Despite what you might hear, crawling on hands and knees is IMPORTANT! Atypical crawling patterns, brief period of crawling (< 1 month), or skipping crawling all together has become more common now that babies are missing out on earlier core strengthening during tummy time. Crawling may not appear to impact immediate development, but the impact on brain development for learning, attention and sensory processing can be significant. 7- 9 months is a critical window of development to ensure your baby does lots of good crawling.
